Our story so far
First beginning as a summer camp in 2024, S.T.R.E.A.M was modeled after the STEM educational model, a critical aspect of education for students looking to develop any necessary skills in today's academic and professional world. Seeking to extend the model to reflect all aspects of possible educational and artistic prospects, Museum Director L'Oreal Evans created and launched S.T.R.E.A.M Camp (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts and Math), a 4-day weekly program from June to July, ensuring that students also experienced activities and opportunities outside of the museum, through cultural exchange with Ashe Cultural Center.

Through our science program, students get the opportunity to learn about the wonders of the natural world, and how to take care of it. Our agricultural efforts primarily take place in our Community Garden, a staple of the Rosenwald School, where we host numerous free events, and work on numerous projects with the kids.
RRAAM is committed to improving our efforts in advancing history through new technologies. Through the S.T.R.E.A.M program, students get a hands-on approach to learning through touchscreen boards, funded laptops, and much more. We have also incorporated coding lessons for computer development.
One of the best ways to encourage your child to learn math and science is through building and inventing new things! Robot building, one of our first engineering efforts for our camp, is a fun, hands-on approach to getting started in any engineering field.
Engineering
This year, our arts programming was a major highlight for our campers. Students experienced a full range of artistic practices from our Artist-In-Residence, Tamerick Zachary. Students learned everything from the basics of drawing, working with colors, to learning and drawing Adinkra symbols- many of which are now featured on our Freedom Garden murals! Our students also learned about music production, and basic methodologies and theory for trumpets with partner organization Girls Play Trumpets Too.
