Moved from Modeste Louisiana, the school served African American children in rural parishes. the school is the brainchild of Booker t. Washington financed by Julius Rosenwald.

True Friend's Benevolent Society Hall

True Friend's Benevolent Society Hall is located on Lessard Street in the Donaldsonville Historic District. Restoration efforts are underway to convert the historic hall to a music academy and performance space.
